God Save The Green

As city girls, we have always longed for a whiff of fresh grass or cucumber sandwiches in a picnic basket. But honestly, surrounding us are dirty green nylon nets from construction sites, olives in greek salad and funny little green men in the traffic lights.

So B and I thought: Why not add some green color in the city? It’s the symbol of youth, energy and our Mother Nature after all.

Of course, there’s still another challenge. We’ve always been told that green isn’t a flattering color to wear since it makes you paler and unhealthy. Myth debunked: Green is actually a refreshing color especially when you layer up different shades of green–sharp green, military green, mint green…you name it. If you’re still afraid, try pair green with timeless classics (black and white) like B and I did. It’s foolproof.

Take A Vest!

It’s March and it’s spring. Could there be better excuses for an afternoon tea in Stanley? After soothing our sugar and caffeine crave, Rachel and I bathed in perfect sunshine and warm breeze on the sidewalk. The waves reflected the azure sky and glistened like sequins on a tutu.

Where’s B? You might ask. “Count me out…I don’t really like sunshine and heat.”

While I’m totally irritated by this lame reason, I must admit it’s really getting warmer and warmer (27°C yesterday, for Chris’s sake).

So here is a piece of advice: Put on your summer clothes–or better yet–your sleeveless tops! They have been hiding under your heavy sweater for way too long. We present you the mother of all sleeveless tops–White Vests.

Flow in Nostalgia

Coco Chanel said, “A girl should be two things: Classy and Fabulous.”

In the world of miniskirts and instagram photos with girls showing their cleavage hashtagged #hot, we sometimes forget what is really important in style.

This time B and I board on a time machine and embrace the warmth of the old times–vinyl records, bricks and concrete stairs. We land on an Edwardian mansion with our love: chiffon high-low skirts. Seriously. Our breath is taken away by those irregular hems flowing in the sunlight through the stainglass window!

We sink into the nostalgia where women dressed to appeal themselves instead of perverts behind the iPhone screen.

We Want More: Prints

We know we have already posted much about Prints and Patterns (Link here: https://afterthebloom.wordpress.com/2013/02/16/paradise-in-print/).

And let’s face it–they aren’t the NEWEST trend. But how could we stop loving those bodacious designs? B couldn’t even leave these statement-making material at home during her trip to Taiwan. See B’s personal take on wild leopard prints in funky turquoise.

Honestly, who cares if prints are no longer à la mode? We feed on them as staples.

Paradise in Print

It’s Chinese New Year!–and also time to ignite style envy in gatherings without frightening grandma or looking like a red packet. An alternative to good old red, gold and purple is PRINTS. The array of patterns lightens up the room and more importantly your mood. To maximise the effect, go for bold bright colors!

Remember, girls. Daddy said that we don’t need mini skirts and deep V tops to turn heads.

True. All you need is Prints.

Tribute to Trio: Black White Blue

Think tender waves, white convertible and dark gin bottles in the sand. You get summer.

Think clear sky, soft snow and inky branches. You get winter.

Forgive us for stealing the Estonian flag for our post; black, white and blue are just colors we can’t take our hands off. These simple colors are so classy that they can fit into almost anything and escalate the style by levels.

CÉLINE puts these hues together and gives us the new simple classic. Hats off to Phoebe Philo.
